Wood as a raw material

Priority 1: sustainable forestry

As a naturally growing raw material, wood offers many advantages. During its growth period, for example, it removes CO2 from the atmosphere, which remains bound in the wood as harmless carbon throughout its product life cycle.

For our particle boards, we only use small diameter wood logs and waste material from Sauerland and Thuringian sawmills. In this way, we strengthen the region and increase the degree of utilization of the harvested wood. We pay strict attention to the source of our timber material and are a certified part of the following chain of custody systems:

PEFC (Registrierungs-Nr.: DINC-PEFC-COC-000492)

FSC® (registration no. TUVDC-COC-100492 and TUVDC-CW-100492; licence no. FSC-C105359)

Our company’s policy for non-certified timber origins is to rule out the following sources:

  • Illegally harvested wood
  • Wood from areas where there are violations against basic traditional or civil rights
  • Wood from non-certified forests with a high protection value
  • Wood from genetically modified trees
  • Wood from forests turned into plantations or deforestation areas to make room for other uses
