The extrusion method
At Sauerland Spanplatte, we manufacture our products using the extrusion method.
The chipped, dried and glued particles fall through an inlet channel between vertical heating plates. An exentric ram compresses the particles and continuously pushes the strand of boards forward. The glued particles harden under pressure and heat. The particle boards leave the presses as an endless strand that is cut directly into the needed formats.
The extrusion process is the only way to produce our tubular particle boards. It requires less raw material to produce boards that are up to 60% lighter than its solid alternativ products. As a consequence using our tubular boards as core material results in lighter doors. Less energy is needed to transport the particle boards and doors. This means that our production technology is already sustainable at its core: in production and transportation.
The properties of our solid particle boards also benefit from the extrusion process. Although they weigh less than conventional particle boards, they are characterized by excellent sound and fire protection properties and offer a highly technical alternative for wooden interior doors.
